There’s another football Cup to be contested in Vancouver this weekend! Barnstorm would also like to welcome the Vanier Cup CIS Championship game to town, along with Laval “Rouge et Or” and the McMaster Marauders!

If the Vanier logo has a familiar feel, that’s because The Vanier Cup Organizing Committee contacted Barnstorm to create a 2011 Vanier Cup mark that would work well in conjunction with the 2011 Grey Cup branding, since this weekend represents only the third time in history that the Vanier Cup has been played on the same weekend in the same town as the Grey Cup Championship.

Incidentally, the last time the Championships were both played in the same city at the same time, was in Toronto in 2007, again, both games branded by Barnstorm Creative!

It’s gonna be a great weekend for Football in Vancouver!

Although we’ll be cheering for orange at the 99th Grey Cup Championship in Vancouver this weekend, Barnstorm has been busy helping paint the town red on behalf of the Canadian Football League!

From creating the now familiar Grey Cup 2011 Logo to decorating the newly renovated BC Place Stadium from centre field to the sideline banners, we have been busy working in conjunction with the CFL to represent Canada’s national league at the largest single day sporting event in the country!

Barnstorm is proud to work with the Canadian Football League and is pleased to welcome them to our home town!

Our friends at Ironhead Originals have finally unleashed their killer line of custom clothing on the Big Smoke! After years of honing their skills and designs on the streets of Kitsilano in Vancouver, Ironhead has opened their second retail location on Queen St. West in TO!

Since the beginning, Barnstorm has been a part of the team helping to create some of Ironhead’s cornerstone images. I still remember watching the ’94 Stanley Cup finals from our dining room offices (I mean, “World Headquarters”) in the ol’ penthouse with Philly Doom, Daver, Dwayner, Donny, Chucky, Chivos and all the old crew!

The opening game commemorative jerseys were designed in conjunction with the CHL, and the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors in honour of the memory of Canadian soldier Marc Diab, a Mississauga native. Diab fought and died in Afghanistan for his country, and the soldier depicted on the jersey comes from an image of Marc. The stylized Maple Leaf is derived from the Toronto Scottish Regiment logo which was an armed forces unit based out of Mississauga that fought in World War I.

The Memorial Cup was donated in 1919 by the Ontario Hockey Association as a memorial to those young men and women who had been given their lives in the defence of Canada during World War I.
